Part One: Green Your Transportation
Saturday, June 21, 2008, 10 A.M. to 1 P.M.
Learn how transportation affects your footprint and how to reduce it! Guest presenters from King County Metro and Cascade Bicycle Club will teach you how to navigate the Metro On-line Trip Planner, find out which city streets are best for bikers, and give basic bike maintenance instruction.
*Don't forget to bring your bike!*
Part Two: Green Your Home
Saturday, July 19, 2008 10 A.M to 1 P.M.
Discover how you can reduce your ecological footprint at home without breaking the bank! Guest presenters Robert Burns from Envision Homes and Jeanne Johnson from ECOSS will give you tips and tricks on home energy efficiency, remodeling, green-cleaning, how to install a rain barrel, and more!
Part Three: Green Your Food and Waste
Saturday, August 16, 2008 10 A.M. to 1 P.M.
Find out how your food and waste decisions affect your impact on the planet! Join speakers from the Urban Farm Company and Cedar Grove Composting for a special presentation on eating locally, home gardening, and composting. Learn how to make your own compost bin, get tips for growing a vegetable garden and native Pacific Northwest plants, and find out what it takes to raise chickens in your own backyard!
Please bring to each event:
- A Notebook and pen
- A mug for coffee
- A water bottle
- Lunch/snack
- Your old shower head (to be exchanged for a FREE, low-flow one!)
We will have:
- A raffle for FREE Rain Barrels and Compost Bins!! (only available for Parts Two and Three)
- Coffee, Tea, and Snacks
- Professionals who can answer all your questions about living sustainably
Registration: $5 per class ($15 for all three)
